At the time I engraved this scene of buildings at the Canterbury Shaker Village in the late 1970's, there were still Shaker Sisters living there. As a tribute, I placed an image of an elderly woman walking along the path in the center of the engraving. Although there are no living Shakers left at Canterbury, it is a wonderful place to visit to see the legacy of the Shaker religious sect. There are guided tours and a gift shop. This engraving measures 7 x 5 inches. |
