Mt. Monadnock, in the southwest corner of New Hampshire, is the only high mountain for miles around. At the summit a spectacular view of much of New England including the White Mountains awaits the hiker. Monadnock is the most-climbed mountain in the United States. Thoreau's seat, a rock that served as a resting place for Henry David Thoreau, can be found on one of the paths near the top. The engraved woodblock is 6.34" x 4".
